Providence, RI - The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) has recently named Brown women's crew coach John Murphy the New England Regional Coach of the Year, while also naming five rowers to its 2008 All-Region team.

Murphy, who is in his 23rd year at the helm of the women's crew program, has helped Brown become the winningest program in NCAA history, placing in the top three at every NCAA Championship since its inception in 1997. Alongside his wife, Associate Head Coach/Novice Coach, Phoebe, Murphy and his crew have captured five NCAA Championships in the last 10 years (1999, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2007). This weekend, the Brown crew is making its 11th appearance in the NCAA Championships, competing on Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif.

After winning the EAWRC Sprints and earning an Ivy League Championship on the Cooper River on May 18, members of the varsity eight earned CRCA All-Region honors. Senior Emma Olson (New Haven, CT), senior coxswain Sarah Wu (North Andover, MA) and junior Jessica Stage (Alexandria, VA) and Corey Finnerty-Ludwig (Seattle, WA) earned First Team All-New England honors, while sophomore Hannah Malvin (Pittsburgh, PA) earned Second Team.
