NCAA Releases Rowing Heats

The NCAA has released the heats for the first round of competition at the Women's Rowing National Championship. Brown, the defending champions will race in the third heat of the Varsity I's set to begin at 8:30 am Friday morning. The Bears will go up against California, Boston University, Washington, and Washington State. The three top finishers in this heat will advance to the semifinals, which will race Saturday.

The three top teams from the first heat of Yale, Michigan, Virginia, Stanford, Michigan State, and Texas will also advance to the Varsity I's semifinals along with the top three from the second heat. The second heat includes USC, Tennessee, Harvard, Princeton, and Ohio State. All other teams will compete in a repechage Friday afternoon.

The Varsity II heats will begin at 10:00 am Friday with Brown facing Yale, Virginia, Michigan State, Washington, and Harvard in the first heat. The second heat will consist of Washington State, Michigan, Princeton, California, Ohio State, and Stanford. Only the top team from each heat will advance to the finals. The remaining ten teams will compete in a repechage to determine who will complete the championship heat of six teams on Saturday morning.

The Fours will begin at 11:00 am with Harvard, Washington State, California, Virginia, and Stanford making up the first heat. Brown will compete in the second heat, set to start at 11:15, which is compiled of Michigan, Princeton, Yale, Ohio State, and Michigan State. The Fours will run like the Varsity IIs, where the top team from each heat automatically advances to the finals on Sunday. The final four spots in the finals will be determined by a Saturday morning repechage between the remaining ten schools.
