Women's Crew Competes in Head of the Charles

Oct. 25, 2006

Boston, MA - Graduation has left Brown women's crew coach John Murphy with a lot of shoes to fill in his 22nd year at the helm. His lineup in women's championship eights took 14th place with a time of 16:41.812 and the championship fours placed sixth with a 18:26.371.

The Championship Eights crew was rowing strong as they were nearing the Eliot Bridge half a mile from the finish. However, due to taking too wide of a turn coming into the bridge, the crew couldn't clear it and lost nearly 20 seconds before they cleared the bridge and straightened out.

The women's crew is back in action on Nov. 18 at Tail of the Charles in Boston.
