Boston, MA - The women's crew turned in a strong performance at the 43rd Head of the Charles on Sunday as the varsity "A" eight finished in sixth and the varsity four came in seventh.
Bruno's varsity "A" eight was the fourth collegiate crew to cross the line, as they posted a time of 16:27.500. The Bears placed behind Yale, Michigan and Tennessee for sixth place, and defeated 33 other talented crews, such as Stanford, Radcliffe, Louisiville, Clemson and Northeastern. Brown's varsity "B" would have placed 12th, but ended up in 20th with an adjusted time of 17:15.867 after receiving a 10-second penalty.
Brown's varsity four claimed seventh place with a time of 19:00.196. The Bears were the second collegiate crew behind Stanford, and finished ahead of the 14 other competing crews. They placed ahead of many strong squads, such as Tulsa, Michigan, Georgetown, Boston University and Tennessee.
Up next, Brown will compete at the Princeton Chase on Sunday, Oct. 28.
