Derby, CT - The Brown women's varsity eight crew came just two seconds short of defeating Yale on Saturday morning in Derby, Connecticut. In a hard-fought race, the talented Yale crew came in at 6:21.0, followed by Brown with 6:23.3 and then Tennessee at 6:37.6.
Despite losing the varsity eight race, Brown was able to secure wins in the second varsity eight, varsity four, third varsity and novice eight races. Second varsity crossed the line at 6:27.0, followed with Yale at 6:31.9 and Tennessee at 6:36.0.
Coming in at 7:25.8, the Brown varsity four came in first, followed by Tennessee's 7:28.3 and Yale at 7:35.9. Third varsity "B" was won by Brown's 7:21.4 and Yale came in close behind with a 7:23.9. In the novice eight race, Brown defeated Yale 6:35.1-6:48.7.
Up next, the Bears will head to Camden, New Jersey on May 13 for the EAWRC Sprints.
