Bears Take Five Of Six Races Against Radcliffe

Cambridge, MA - The Brown women's crew team won five of six races against Ivy League foe Radcliffe on Friday morning on the Charles River. The Crimson won the varsity eight race by a length but the Bears earned dominate victories in the five other races. The races were originally scheduled for Saturday but were moved up to Friday morning due to the threat of rain on Saturday. Penn did not compete.
Brown's varsity eight timed in at 6:27.5 while Harvard finished in 6:24.7. In the second varsity eight match-up, the Bears won by a length, 6:44.1-6:47.5. The Bears sent out two varsity four boats, both of which easily defeated the Crimson. Brown's "B" boat timed in at 7:30.2 while its "A" boat crossed the finish line in 7:30.8. Radcliffe finished in a distant time of 7:36.5. In the second varsity fours, Brown cruised to a 23 second victory, 7:44.3-8:08.8.
Brown was equally impressive in the novice races, sweeping both. In the first novice eight, the Bears timed in at 6:54.2 to Radcliffe's 7:02.4. Brown's second novice eight squad rowed to a 18 second victory, 7:59.1-7:02.4.
