PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown University women's crew won the Women's Varsity Eight race at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie on Sunday morning with a time of 14:25.321, edging second-place Virginia by 1.144 seconds.
In their final event of the fall season, the Bears won their third race of the year after capturing the Women's Club Eight at The Head of the Charles on Oct. 18 and claiming the Collegiate Women's Eight title at the Head of the Housatonic on Oct. 11.
At today's race, Brown came in first out of 50 entries – ahead of Virginia, third-place Syracuse (14:43.211), fourth-place Yale (14:43.813), and fifth-place Princeton (15:03.362).
Brown placed another three boats in the competition with the squad's B entry finishing in 10th place with a time of 15:24.837. That crew completed the course ahead of several A entries, including Boston College, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn, Georgetown, and Rhode Island.
The Bears' C entry came in 21st behind a time of 15:58.674, and the crew's D boat crossed the finish in 38th in 16:56.007.
Brown will resume competition in the spring.
