PROVIDENCE, R.I. – On the strength of the Bears' best time since 2006, the varsity eight won a tightly-contested race to help the No. 1 Brown women's crew team prevail in all five races against No. 11 Yale on the Seekonk River on Monday. Following a quick turnaround against Cornell on Saturday, the Bears complete regular season competition by placing first against all four Ivy League opponents.
The varsity eight crossed the finish in 5:54.50, a mere 1.8 seconds ahead of the Bulldogs for Brown's best time since the varsity eight posted a 5:53.31 mark against Yale and Northeastern on April 30, 2006.
The varsity four 'B' triumphed in another tight finish, winning by an even two seconds at 6:43.50, followed by the second varsity eight which turned in Brown's second sub-six minute time of the day at 5:56.90.
The varsity four 'A' crew posted a 6:41.90 time to top Yale by 6.9 seconds and the third varsity eight capped the day with a 6:11.10 performance.
The Bears will now prepare for the Ivy League Championship on May 18. Brown will take on the rest of the Ancient Eight field on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
