#9 Brown Edged by #12 Yale in Varsity Eight; Bears Win Varsity Four
DERBY, CONNECTICUT – The ninth-ranked Brown women's crew team turned in several strong performances on Monday, but ultimately lost the Nat & Anne Case Cup to the #12 Yale Bulldogs based on the results of the five races conducted on the Housatonic River.
The Bears crossed the finish line in 6:58.1 in the varsity eight, falling short of the Bulldog's top boat, as it sped in for a winning time of 6:49.5.
Yale earned a second victory in the second varsity eight, narrowly edging Brown with a time of 6:58.9. The Bears finished just over three seconds behind with a time of 7:01.2.
The varsity four also proved to be a close race, with exactly one second separating the crews, but Brown earned the victory over Yale, as the Bears posted a time of 7:40.3 to the Bulldogs' 7:41.3.
The squads flip-flopped in the 'B' varsity four, with Yale finishing in 7:55.0 to Brown's 8:42.7, but the Bears capped the day with a win in the third varsity eight. The visitors handled the home team easily, finishing in 7:03.3 to their 7:30.7.
The Bears will return to action this weekend as they head to Camden, New Jersey for the Eastern Sprints regatta on Sunday, May 5th.
