Brown Athletics Announces 2013 Award Winners at Fifth Annual Senior Luncheon
The Fifth Annual Brown Athletics Senior Celebration and Awards Luncheon was held at Andrews Dining Hall on Monday, May 20, 2013. Over 275 student-athletes, coaches, staff and distinguished guests were in attendance at the banquet to celebrate another year of success in competition, in the classroom and in the community. President Christina Paxson and Director of Athletics Jack Hayes each took the opportunity to address the room and acknowledge the accomplishments and contributions of the class of 2013.

Brown Women's Crew Selected to Compete at the 2013 NCAA Division One Rowing Championships
On Tuesday evening, the NCAA announced that the Brown women’s crew team has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division I Rowing Championships for the 17th consecutive time in the program’s history. Brown is one of three schools that have competed in every national championship held by the NCAA and is the most decorated team in the sport’s history, winning seven titles over the course of the past 16 years.

Brown Women's Crew Set to Take on the Ivy League
On Sunday morning, the #12 Brown women’s crew team will take on the rest of the Ancient Eight schools in the 2013 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championships. Held at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, New Jersey, the competition seeks to determine which of the crews are the best in the conference and among the fastest in the country.

Brown Wins Four Races to Take Third at the 2013 Ivy League Women's Rowing Championships
The 2013 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championships featured some of the premiere teams in the country, and the Brown women’s crew team rose to the occasion, winning four of the five events that it contested on the Cooper River. The Bears ignored the light rain that fell throughout the day, triumphing in several close races and coming in third as a team.

Brown Claims Team Title at 2013 Eastern Sprints Regatta
The Brown women’s crew team returned to College Hill with the Charles G. Willing Jr. Trophy on Sunday afternoon, as the Bears earned the top spot in three of the four events they contested in the 2013 Eastern Sprints Regatta, held on the Cooper River, to win the team competition for the tenth time in the program’s history. Competing against some of the strongest teams on the East Coast, Brown also took second in the varsity eight, falling by the slimmest of margins in a tight race with Ivy League foe Columbia. The Bears’ last team title in the Eastern Sprints came in the spring of 2008.

#9 Brown Edged by #12 Yale in Varsity Eight; Bears Win Varsity Four
The ninth-ranked Brown women’s crew team turned in several strong performances on Monday, but ultimately lost the Nat & Anne Case Cup to the #12 Yale Bulldogs based on the results of the five races conducted on the Housatonic River.

#9 Brown Retains Dunn Bowl in Races Against #16 Columbia and #19 Cornell
On a sunny Saturday in Providence, the ninth-ranked Brown women’s crew team returned to action on the Seekonk River, producing several impressive performances against Ivy League foes #16 Columbia and #19 Cornell to retain the Dunn Bowl, the trophy given to the victorious team in best-of-three NCAA events.

Women's Crew Race Against Boston University Cancelled; Boat Christening Will Go On As Planned
The women’s crew race between Brown and Boston University, scheduled for Saturday, April 20th at 3:55pm on the Seekonk River in Providence, has been canceled. The regatta will not be rescheduled, but the two teams will meet at the Eastern Sprints on May 5th, and the winner of the Arlene Gorton Cup will be determined by the outcome of that race.

#9 Brown Sinks Rhode Island on Seekonk River
The ninth-ranked Brown women’s crew team turned in a commanding performance on the Seekonk River this morning, defeating the University of Rhode Island in all four races conducted in chilly April weather.

#12 Brown Defeats #11 Harvard in Three out of Four Races on the Charles River
The 12th-ranked Brown women's crew team battled through difficult conditions to defeat the 11th-ranked Radcliffe squad in three of the four races that were contested in Saturday's regatta on the Charles River. Both teams were put at a disadvantage by the weather, but the low temperatures and cross headwind made the Bears win even more impressive.

#13 Brown Opens 2013 Spring Racing Season at #3 Princeton with #6 Ohio State
The 13th-ranked Brown women’s crew team opened its 2013 spring racing season this morning, competing for the Class of 1987 Trophy with the #3 Princeton Tigers. The #6 Ohio State Buckeyes also joined the 2,000 meter race, which was held on Carnegie Lake in windy conditions, creating a highly competitive field.

On Sunday, February 17th, several members of the Brown women’s crew team competed at the CRASH-B Indoor Rowing World Championships at Agganis Arena on the campus of Boston University.

Brown Concludes Fall Competition at the Princeton Chase
The Brown women’s rowing team concluded the fall portion of their 2012-2013 season at the Princeton Chase on Sunday, October 28th. The 2.75 mile race was hosted by Princeton University and held on Lake Carnegie in Princeton, NJ. This year’s event, open only to collegiate crews, was the largest ever with 431 boats entered. Seven of the eight Ivy League programs took to the water this morning, with only Harvard University missing the chance to brave the impending threat of Hurricane Sandy.

Brown Competes at the 48th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta
Brown women’s crew was represented by three different boats at the 48th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta this weekend, with the Bears’ varsity four putting in a strong performance, placing fifth overall; third among college crews.

Brown Opens 2012-13 Season at Head of the Housatonic
After reaching the NCAA Championship for a 16th-straight season the Brown women’s crew started it’s chase for yet another appearance at the national tournament at the Head of the Housatonic. It was the 18th annual race on the Housatonic River and was hosted by the New Haven Rowing club.

Brown Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-Ivy Honors
Providence, R.I. – The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for 2012 spring Academic All-Ivy, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five females and five males were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.
