Defending National Champs Top In-State Rival URI
Kingston, R.I. – For the first time Brown traveled away from the Seekonk River to face the University of Rhode Island on Saturday morning. Despite an impressive headwind, the Bears took all four races on the day, which included the varsity eight, second varsity, third varsity and varsity four boats.
Brown won each race by at least seven and a half seconds, with the 3V8 winning by nearly half a minute and the V4 crossing ahead of the Rams by 19.1 seconds.
Brown returns to the spot of its 2011 National Championship victory next weekend, taking part in the Lake Natoma Invitational in Sacramento, Calif. The Bears will race on both April 14 and 15, with racing starting at 9 a.m., on Saturday and 8 a.m., on Sunday.
