Boston, Mass. – In their final tune-up of the year, battling 15 mph winds that increased throughout the day, sub-50 degree weather and a competitive field, the Brown women's crew took a first- and second-place finish it the two races it entered boats into. Its varsity four finish second, while the varsity eight finished first overall.
Seven boats were entered into the varsity eight race with Radcliffe, Northeastern, Buffalo, URI and MIT being represented. Brown was able to sprint past a game Radcliffe boat, finishing in 13:36.1, 18.6 seconds ahead. Brown's second entry finished sixth with a time of 14:34.0.
There were 46 entrants in the varsity four race, and Brown was able to finish ahead of 44 of them, taking second overall. The Bears finished with a time of 14:06.1, just over 20 seconds off the pace of Radcliffe. Brown's second, third and fourth entries took eighth, 11th and 29th, respectively.
