PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The 2011 Division I NCAA Champion Brown Women's Crew was in action for the first time since winning the title last season at the 47th annual Head of the Charles Regatta, the world's largest two-day rowing event. Brown entered four boats into an impressive field of stiff competition and showed good speed on a great day for racing.
Brown entered two boats into the championship field which finished in eighth and 33rd. Brown's varsity finished with a time of 16:40.65, less than a seat behind seventh-place Cornell. The second varsity crew finished with a time of 17:47.19.
In the varsity four, Brown finished seventh overall and fourth among collegiate squads, behind only Virginia, Notre Dame and Yale. The Bears crossed the line with a time of 19:00.23, a few lengths behind Yale.
The Bears return to the water on Sunday, Oct. 30 at the Princeton Chase.
