Kelsey Named 2011 Capital One Academic All-American

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Three days after earning All-American honors, senior rower Casey Kelsey (Lyme, N.H.) has been named a Capital One Academic All-American as selected by CoSIDa. The third-team selection adds to a impressive list of distinctions she has piled up in 2011, including NCAA Champion, All-American and Scholar-Athlete.

Senior captain of the National Champion women's crew team, Casey Kelsey is also a Second Team All-Ivy honoree. Kelsey helped the varsity eight boat to a second-place finish at the 2011 NCAA's and guided the Bears to their seventh NCAA Championship.  

Kelsey also won an NCAA Title in 2010 as part of the second varsity boat, helping Brown to a fifth place finish overall at the 2010 Championships. As a freshman in 2008, Kelsey won her first NCAA Title, while rowing for the 2V8.

A double concentrator in Biology and Economics with a 3.88 GPA, Kelsey was also named a 2010 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar Athlete.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
