No. 6 Brown Women’s Crew Tops Ivy League Foes Columbia & Cornell

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In the final home meet of the year, Brown rowed through difficult weather conditions and two Ivy opponents, as the No.6-ranked Bears won all five races against Columbia and Cornell. Brown's day was highlighted by a 14 second win in the varsity eight.

The Bears, coming off of wins over URI and Boston University just 24 hours earlier on a beautiful Friday, faced steady rains, an increasing headwind and an incoming tide throughout Saturday's races on the Seekonk River.

Brown made the most of its final race at home, posting impressive times for the weather impairments the boats faced. The varsity eight looked extremely strong, finishing in 7:41.80, well ahead of second-place Columbia's 7:55.40.

The Bear second varsity eight actually posted a faster time than both Columbia's and Cornell's V8 boats, finishing in 7:52.50.

Brown women's crew will have one final tuneup on April 30 at Yale, before heading to the EARC Sprints at Camden, N.J. on May 15.
