No. 5 Women’s Crew Takes Second in Top Three Races vs. No 2 Princeton and No. 8 Michigan State
Princeton, N.J. – No. 5 Brown women's crew took on an impressive field in its first day of competition in the 2011 season, traveling to take on No. 2 Princeton and No. 8 Michigan State. The Bears finished second in each of the top three races of the day, while its third Varsity 8 was victorious in a head-to-head race against Princeton.
Princeton showed why it holds the No. 2 ranking in the poll, winning each of the top three races. Michigan State finished third in each of its races, while Brown added a B team to the Varsity 4 race, which finished fourth.
Brown's Varsity eight was less than three seconds off the pace in the Varsity 8 at 7:06.3 and less than three in the Varsity 4 at 8:05.09. Bruno was also four seconds off, exactly, in the second Varsity 8 at 7:19.2.
The Bears winning third Varsity 8 finished in 7:28.7, 15.9 seconds ahead of second-place Princeton.
Brown will be back in the boats on April 2, when they travel to take on Radcliffe.
