Women's Basketball To Play San Diego St. In Consolation Match Of Lady Blazer Invite

Birmingham, AL - The Brown women's basketball team will play San Diego State in the consolation match of UAB's Lady Blazer Invitational in Birmingham, AL. Game time is set for 3 p.m. central time today, Tuesday, Dec. 30. The Bears fell to host UAB 57-50 lastnight in the opening round of the tourney. The Aztecs took UT-Martin down to the wire in the second match of the night, but couldn't come up with the victory as they fell 59-56. The Blazers and Skyhawks will tip-off at 5 p.m. central time in the championship match.
Today's game will be Brown's first-ever meeting with San Diego State. The Aztecs enter the game with a 4-6 record while the Bears stand at 2-6. Senior Nyema Mitchell, playing in her hometown of Birmingham, leads Brown with 11.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Also scoring in double figures is senior Tanara Golston with 11.3. She leads the Ivy League with 40 assists on the season. Spohomore Colleen Kelly, who led the Bears with 13 points against UAB, is nearly averaging double-digits as well with 9.6 points a game.
The Aztecs are led by a trio of players averaging double figures in Michelle Elliot (13.1), Ashlee Dunlap (12.8) and Courtney Fritz (11.2). Dunlap, who led the team with 13 points and 11 boards in 23 minutes of action against UT-Martin, leads the team with 10.9 rebounds per game as well.
