Maloni named Ivy League Player of the Week

PRINCETON, NJ -- Sophomore guard Barbara Maloni, the leading scorer in the Ivy League, was named Ivy League Player of the Week.

Maloni earned the award following Brown's 2-2 start in its first four games. Maloni scored 29 points in the season opener against UNH, and followed that up with 30 points in Brown's first win at Northeastern on November 20. Maloni then earned All-Tournament team honors at the Indiana Thanksgiving Tournament, as she dropped 28 points on Belmont and added 12 against the Hoosiers.

In Wednesday night's loss to Manhattan, Maloni scored a season-high 31 on 11-of-18 shooting. For the year, Maloni is shooting at a .516 (48-93) clip, while leading Brown with 22 steals. She is currently averaging 26 points per game.

The Bears host the BankRI/Brown Classic this weekend, when Canisius, Butler and Davidson visit the Pizzitola Sports Center. Brown faces Canisius on Saturday at 1, followed by Butler vs. Davidson at 3:00. The consolation game will be played on Sunday at 1:00, and the championship game will take place on Sunday at 3:00.
