King-Bischof Named Ivy League Player of the Week

Providence, RI - After netting 29 points and pulling down eight rebounds to defeat Sacred Heart University, 70-63, last week, senior Ashley King-Bischof (Pleasanton, CA) has been named Ivy League Player of the Week (11/27/06).

Against the Pioneers, King-Bischof went 11-17 from the field, had one assist and also recorded one block. It was Brown's (1-5) first victory of the season. At the Dead River Company Classic at the University of Maine during Thanksgiving, King-Bischof recorded her second double-double of the season as she poured in 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Against the Black Bears she was 3-5 from the three and had three steals for the game. Brown lost 62-51 to the eventual tournament champions. She then posted five points, three assists and six rebounds during the consolation game against St. John's.

King-Bischof's first double-double of the 2006-07 campaign came in Brown's season opener against Providence College where she collected 11 points and had 11 rebounds. She currently leads the Brown in scoring with 13.5 points per game while shooting .386 from the field, and is also averaging 5.8 rebounds.

The Bears host Marist College at 7 p.m. tonight and then will host the 15th annual Brown Basketball Classic over the weekend. The Bears are scheduled to play UCDavis at 1 p.m. on Saturday and will then play either Syracuse or the University of Rhode Island at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
