Brown Names Mendes Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Brown University has named Dean Mendes assistant women's basketball coach, joining head coach Jean Marie Burr's staff. Mendes served as the restricted earnings coach at Brown for the last two seasons.

"Dean is very experienced and has great knowledge of the game," noted Coach Burr. "He has worked with coaches such as Tom Penders of George Washington in the past. Dean has demonstrated excellent fundamentals and knows how to develop players to their full potential. He is very committed to women's basketball."

Before arriving at Brown, Mendes served as an assistant coach at Worcester State College for two years, and prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Assumption College for two seasons.

A native of Easton, Massachusetts, Mendes is a 1982 graduate of Fordham University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Journalism. During his four years at Fordham, he served as a student assistant coach under Tom Penders.
