Brown University junior center Holly Robertson is one of 12 Canadian women selected to play for the Canadian Junior National Team at the upcoming Junior Olympics in Daegu, Korea, August 20-31, 2003.
"Holly enjoyed a breakthrough season for our team last year," said Brown head coach Jean Burr. "She worked extremely hard to elevate her game to the national team level and we expect even bigger things from Holly in the future. I know that Holly is thrilled to represent her country. The competition she'll face in Korea will help tremendously in her development as a player."
A native of Cochrane, Canada, the 6-5 Robertson had a strong season for Brown in 2002-2003, averaging 7.4 points and 6.6 rebounds for coach Jean Burr's team that finished with a 15-12 record and second place finish in the Ivy League standings. Robertson, who was a member of the Alberta Junior Team as a high school junior, netted a season high 18 points against Columbia and registered 15 blocked shots for the season.
"This is a very solid team we're sending to Korea," said Canadian Junior National Team Coach Deb Huband. "We have a good mix of young and experienced athletes. Our National Team Program staff has done a great job evaluating and identifying talent. I'm positive this group of young women will undoubtedly represent Canada very well at this year's FISU Games."
