Batastini Steps Down As Women's Basketball Assistant At Brown

Providence, RI - Christina Batastini has stepped down from her post as an assistant women's basketball coach to Brown University. Batastini will be attending graduate school beginning in the fall at Springfield College.

Batastini came to Brown last fall after serving as a Head Women's Basketball Coach in Switzerland. Prior to her coaching duties, she played professionally in Switzerland and was a Swiss All-Star. She led the league in assists and was a member of the Swedish and Norwegian Elite Divisions. Batastini also played in the Italian League.

Batastini is a 2000 graduate of Stanford University where she was a four-year letterwinner in basketball. During her tenure the Cardinal advanced to the NCAA Final Four in 1996 and won the Pac 10 Championship three times.

Batastini attended Classical High School in Providence, RI and was named the New England High School Gatorade Player of the Year as well as a Parade and Nike High School All-American. She was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.

A search will begin immediately for Batastini's replacement at Brown.
