Brown senior guard Tanara Golston (Evanston, IL) was named the Ivy League Player of the Week after leading the women's basketball team to two big wins over the weekend. Golston tallied 17 points, a game-high eight assists, three rebounds and two steals in the Bears 85-75 victory over first place Penn on Friday. She followed up with 15 points along with eight assists and a steal against Princeton on Saturday as Brown cruised to a 59-39 defeat.
The loss for Penn was its first of the season and the win over Princeton avenged a loss to the Tigers three weeks ago. Brown held the lead from the midway point of the first half against the Quakers and led the entire way against the Tigers.
Golston, who leads the Ivy League and is 15th in the nation in assists with 6.5 per game, is just 26 dishes away from breaking Brown's single season assist record. She is currently fourth all-time at Brown with 371 career assists. The 5-7 guard is second in scoring for the Bears with 11.5 points per game and second in steals with 2.17 per contest.
