Hayes Named Ivy League Player of the Week

For the second time this season, Brown junior guard Sarah Hayes (Beaufort, SC) was named the Ivy League Player of the Week after leading the Bears to two conference wins over the weekend. Brown defeated Cornell and Columbia by an average of 21 points on Friday and Saturday respectively, improving to 5-1 in Ivy play.

For the weekend, Hayes averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.0 assists. She went 11-17 (65%) from the field and 12-14 (86%) from the line. On Friday, she made a career-high six steals along with scoring 15 points on 7-10 shooting and pulling down eight rebounds.

Against the Lions, Hayes went 11-12 from the line, including 10-10 in the second half to lead Brown with 20 points on the night. She nearly made it a double-double with nine rebounds along with 3 assists and a steal. Her seven steals this weekend moved her into ninth place on Brown's all-time steals list. Hayes is currently 22nd in the nation in steals per game.

This weekend will be crucial for Brown as it faces third place Harvard on Friday and undefeated Dartmouth on Saturday. The Second place Bears currently have the best overall record in the League with a 13-6 mark.
