Providence, RI -
In the first full weekend of Ivy play, Brown will take on Dartmouth Friday and travel on to Harvard on Saturday. The Bears split both series last year, defeating the Crimson in Cambridge, 78-63, and the Big Green, 68-64, in Providence as Brown was the first Ivy team to defeat Dartmouth. Brown swept two games with Yale to begin the Ivy season 2-0. A win over South Dakota State got the team over the .500 mark last Sunday as they have won five of their last six games.
Friday's meeting will be the 57th all-time with the Big Green holding a 38-18 advantage in the series. The Bears have struggeled in Hanover as they have not won there since 1996. The meeting with Harvard will be the 61st as the series stands at a 30-30 deadlock. During the 2003-04 season, Brown handed the Crimson their worst Ivy loss in 20 years with a 95-70 defeat.
Senior captain Sarah Hayes was named the Ivy League Player of the Week as she led Brown to both victories last week, averaging 22.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 3.5 assists in the two games. Senior Colleen Kelly has also been a huge offensive source, averaging 17.1 points in the last seven games, including a season-high 24 against SDSU.
Hayes leads the Ivy League in scoring and in steals with 15.7 and 2.5 per game respectively. She ranks in the top ten of four other categories as well. Kelly is second in scoring for Brown and eighth in the league, averaging 13.6 per game. Her 2.3 steals rank right behind Hayes for second in the League. Junior Ashley King-Bischof is third in scoring with 8.2 ppg and second in rebounding with 5.1 rpg.
