Providence, RI - Junior Courtney Lee (Archer, FL) was named the Ivy League's Player of the Week and freshman Hannah Passafuime (Soquel, CA) earned Rookie of the Week honors after helping the Brown women's basketball team (3-12) to a thrilling 64-62 win in its first Ivy League game against Yale on Friday evening.
Lee played another stellar game for the Bears during the team's victory over the Bulldogs, as she netted 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting from the field, while also pulling down five rebounds. She also picked up six steals in the win and handed out three assists in 39 minutes of play. Her tenacious defense not only helped force 22 Yale turnovers, but also held the Ivy League's leading scorer to just five points.
Passafuime, Brown's second leading scorer, chipped in with five points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal in 32 minutes of play. Passafuime went 2-for-5 from the field and 1-for-2 from the free throw line en route to Brown's first Ivy League win of the season.
Brown is back in action at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan.23 when it takes on Yale at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
