Women's Basketball Falls 65-56 to AIC

PROVIDENCE, RI - The AIC Yellow Jackets came away with a 65-56 win over Brown at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Friday evening.

Senior guard Kristen Patterson (Agawam, MA) led the charge for the Yellow Jackets by scoring 14 points and handing out four assists while hitting nine of 10 free throws. Senior forward Rhona McKenzie (Calgary, Alberta) added a double-double for AIC with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Megan Ladley (Pittsfield, MA) made a career-high four three-pointers to finish with 12 points.

For Brown (3-6), senior Rada Pavichevich (Norwood Park, IL) checked in with 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sophomore Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) also had 12 points and pulled down six rebounds for the Bears.

The game was tied 24-24 at the half but AIC raced out on a 7-0 run to open the second half and the Yellow Jackets never lost the advantage. Brown pulled within four points at 55-51 with just over four minutes remaining, but AIC went on a 6-0 run to pull ahead by ten points.

The Bears return to action on Dec. 28-29 when they will compete in the Pepperdine Holiday Classic in Malibu, CA. On Friday, Dec. 28, Brown will go up against Pepperdine at 5:00 p.m. PST. The consolation and championship games will be played on Saturday at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. PST.
