Bears Takes Second in Brown Classic

The Brown University Women's Basketball Team took second in the 11th Annual Bank RI Brown Classic after falling to the University of Vermont 72-47. The Bears defeated Lafayette College 71-50 in the first round of the tournament to advance to the championship game.

The Bears were led by junior Tanara Golston (Skokie, IL) who recorded 13 points and was perfect from the field. Golston led the Bears in assists with four and recorded three steals.

Golston and junior Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) were both named to the All-Tournament team. Mitchell posted nine points and eight boards in today's match-up. Sophomore Holly Robertson (Cochrane, Alberta) and junior Miranda Craigwell (Boston, MA) both contributed eight points and combined for eight boards.

The Bears will take a long break over the holidays and not return to action until the end of December when they will participate in the Villanova Tournament. The Bears will face host team Villanova on the first day, Sunday December 29 at 4:00 p.m. and will go on to face either the University of New Hampshire or Fairfield.
