PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown women's basketball team suffered its third loss of the season by dropping a 67-53 decision to the Providence College Friars at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Thursday evening.
Leading the way for the Bears was sophomore forward Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) who scored a career-high 22 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked five shots. Sophomore guard Tara Williams (Portland, OR) also added 12 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
The Friars received 14 points and seven rebounds from sophomore Jenese Wilcox (Port Chester, NY) as they earned their fourth win of the season and improved to a record of 4-2. Junior Brooke Freeburg (Waterford, PA) also contributed with 10 points and three rebounds to pace the Friars.
The Bears fall to 2-3 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday Dec. 1-2 when they will host the annual Brown Classic women's basketball tournament at the Pizzitola Sports Center. In the first game on Saturday, the Bears will meet the Army Black Knights at 1:00 p.m. which will be followed by Texas A&M vs. Quinnipiac at 3:00 p.m. The consolation game will be played on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. and the championship will take place at 3:00 p.m.
