Women's Basketball Opens Season with 63-58 Victory at Fordham

BRONX, NY - The women's basketball team opened its 2001-2002 season with a thrilling 63-58 come from behind victory over the Fordham Rams at Rose Hill Gym on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Rada Pavichevich (Norwood Park, IL) scored a game-high 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Bears in the victory.
Sophomore Tanara Golston (Evanston, IL) notched 18 points, converting eight of nine clutch free throws down the stretch in the second half. Fellow sophomore Stephanie Bruce (Summit, NJ) also chipped in with 14 points including two three-point field goals. Sophomore Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) rounded out the Bear attack with eight points and nine rebounds.
The Bears trailed 29-25 at halftime, but used a key 11-2 run in the second half to overtake the Rams and earn their first victory of the season.
Brown (1-0) returns to action on Tuesday, November 20, for a 7:00 p.m. game at URI before participating at the University of Illinois-Chicago Tournament on November 24-25.
