Bears Defeat Tigers 73-60

The Brown University Women's Basketball Team defeated the Princeton Tigers 73-60 tonight Friday, February 14, 2003 at the Pizzitola Gymnasium. Brown is now 11-9 overall and 5-2 in the Ivy League.

The Bears were led by junior Tanara Golston (Skokie, IL) who posted 17 points, six assists, five rebounds, and two steals. Only one other player scored in double digits for the Bears in freshman Sarah Hayes (Beaufort, SC) with 15 points. Hayes also pulled down five boards and dished out three assists.

Freshman Colleen Kelly (Rochester, NY) recorded nine points and three steals as freshman Ashley Van Kurin (Yorba Linda, CA) and junior Miranda Craigwell (Dorcester, MA) both netted eight points a piece. Craigwell also led the team in rebounds pulling down ten as Van Kurin grabbed six.

Junior Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) added seven points, six rebounds, and four steals as sophomore Holly Robertson (Cochrane, Alberta) recorded six points.

The Bears will continue Ivy League action tomorrow as the host the Pennsylvania Quakers at 7:00 p.m. in the Pizzitola Gymnasium.
