Bears Tame Tigers 65-56 for Second Ivy League Victory

PRINCETON, NJ -- Sophomore forward Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Brown women's basketball team to a 65-56 Ivy League victory over the Princeton Tigers at Jadwin Gymnasium on Friday night.
Mitchell was 10 of 14 from the field on the evening and also added eight rebounds.
Junior Heidi Egelhoff (Portland, OR) also scored in double figures with 11 points and six rebounds and sophomore Stephanie Bruce (Summit, NJ) added 10 points for the Bears (5-15, 2-5). Bruce connected on three of four three-point attempts, as Brown shot 60 percent from long range.
Brown raced out to a 31-20 lead at halftime with the help of 10 first-half points from Mitchell.
The Bears controlled the inside game all evening, outscoring the Tigers by a 36-16 points in the paint differential. Brown also used stifling defense as it forced 24 turnovers and held Princeton (8-11, 2-4 Ivy) to 33 percent shooting from the field.
