The Brown University Women's Basketball Team has lost their first Ivy League match falling to the Harvard Crimson 72-61. The Bears are now 10-8 overall and 4-1 in the Ivy League. Harvard now stands alone in first place in the Ivy League.
The Bears were down by 15 at halftime, getting outscored 41-26, but Brown came out strong in the second half and outscored the Crimson 35-31 in the second half.
Brown was led by freshman Colleen Kelly (Rochester, NY) who netted 17 second half points, for 19 total. Kelly also pulled down five boards dished out three assists and grabbed two steals.
The only other Bear scoring in double digits was junior Tanara Golston (Skokie, IL) with 11 points. Golston also recorded five rebounds and led Brown in assists with four. Junior Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) recorded seven and also netted nine points.
Freshman Sarah Hayes (Beaufort, SC) and sophomore Holly Robertson (Cochrane, Alberta) both added seven points a piece. Hayes led the Bears in rebounds with eight as Robertson pulled down five. Hayes also led the team in steals with four and dished out three assists.
The Bears will continue action tomorrow evening as they travel to Dartmouth for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
