Providence, RI - Senior Tanara Golston (Evanston, IL) scored a game-high 18 and junior Holly Robertson (Alberta, Cochrane) chipped in with 17 off the bench to lead the Brown women's basketball team to a 75-58 victory over Yale on Saturday afternoon.
The win gives Brown its seventh straight victory and a sweep of the season series against Yale as it downed the Bulldogs 75-72 in the conference opener last Saturday.
The Bears jumped out to a 23-14 lead in the first half but Yale crawled its way back, tying the score 31 all by the end of the half. Robertson tallied six of her eight points in the half on two treys from the top of the circle.
Golston knocked in seven and senior Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) pitched in with six in the half as well for the Bears.
Brown turned up its intensity as it opened up the second half with a 16-4 run to regain the lead, 47-35. Robertson and Golston keyed the drive as they tallied nine and seven points respectively.
Seven was as close as Yale would get in the half as the Bears quickly built back a sizable lead, cruising to the 17-point victory.
Freshman Lena McAfee (Reston, VA) scored a career-high 12 points, including 9 in the second half. Mitchell finished just shy of a double-double with nine points, a game-high 11 rebounds, four blocks and three steals.
Golston continues to spread the ball around for the Bears as she added in eight assists. Sophomore Colleen Kelly (Rochester, NY) contributed seven points in the win as well.
Brown will play at Princeton on Friday and travel on to Penn to face the Quakers on Saturday. The Bears will be looking to close out the month with an undefeated record as they are a perfect 6-0 in January.
