Brown Basketball Timeline
1973 - 12/4/73
First Game - In its first intercollegiate game, Brown defeats Mount St. Joseph's College (RI), 48-29. Sara Deidrick led the Bears with 17 points, while Karen Joyce added 10.
 1994 - 3/16/94
First NCAA Tournament Game - After securing its third consecutive Ivy title (and fifth overall) and winning a playoff game against Dartmouth in OT, Brown earned the Ivy League's first automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
1975 - 2/13/75
Rebounding Record - Karen Joyce sets the Brown rebounding mark by pulling down 25 boards in a 74-43 victory over Westfield State.
 1997 - 1/10/97
300th Win - In its first Ivy contest of the season, Brown traveled to Princeton and came away with a 72-70 win, the 300th victory in Brown women's basketball history.  Vita Redding tossed in 24 points and Liz Turner added 21 to pace the Bears.

1977 - 1/29/77
Defensive Dominance - Brown turns in a stellar defensive effort at the Brown Invitational Tournament, limiting MIT to just 18 points.   The Bears win 61-18 and set a new defensive standard for fewest points allowed.


1998 - 2/28/98
Turner Makes League History - Two-time captain and two-time First Team All-Ivy selection, Liz Turner, created Ivy history when she became the first player in the league (men's or women's) to amass 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 250 assists, 150 steals and 100 three-pointers in a career.
1982 - 12/14/82
Most Points - Brown sets a new offensive record by scoring 96 points in a convincing 96-45 defeat of Westfield State.  Donna Yaffe led the Bears with 37 points, tying the Brown single game scoring mark.  As a team, Brown pulled down 71 rebounds to set another record.
1999 - 1/30/99
Redding Breaks Scoring Record - Tri-captain and two-time All-Ivy Selection Vita Redding, broke the Brown record for total career points. Redding scored her 1,779 career point against Dartmouth and finished her career with 1,783.
1983 - 2/5/83
100th Win - Brown defeats Harvard 87-71 behind 34 points from Donna Yaffe. Yaffe nailed 16 of 19 free throws to set new records for free throws made and attempted.
2000 - 3/3/00
Maloni Sets School Scoring Record - Freshman Barbara Maloni set a Brown basketball record (men's and women's) with a 40-point performance against Penn, packing the Bears to a 92-82 overtime victory.
1984 - 3/2/84
1st Ivy title - Brown defeats Penn for the second time in the season to clinch Brown's first Ivy title. The Bears finished with a 10-2 Ivy mark.

2003 - 1/14/03
Coach Burr Records 200th Career Win - In a 66-41 win over Iona, Head Coach Jean Marie Burr recorded her 200th career victory.  She is now the winningest coach in Brown basketball history (men's and women's).

1985 - 3/2/85
2nd Ivy title - In their final home game of the season, the Bears post a 85-69 win over Penn to secure their second Ivy title.

2004 - 2/13/04
Bears Break Pizzitola Attendance Record - The Bears took on two-time defending Ivy League Champion Harvard down to the wire in front of a record-setting crowd at the Pizzitola Center.  A new school record was set as 1,989 fans cheered the Bears on in the game, which was televised nationally by the YES Network.

1986 - 2/22/86
Assist Record - Kerry Kelley dishes out 16 assists to lead Brown to a 68-53 victory over Penn. Kelley's 16 assists are a Brown single game record, breaking her old mark of 13.
2004 - 3/5/04
Golston Breaks Ivy League Single Season Assist Record - Tanara Golston broke the league's single season assist record in a 76-66 win over Columbia.  With 2:11 left in the first half, she dished out her 179th assist of the season, breaking the league record.
1988 - 1/29/88
The Longest Game - Brown and Princeton battled for three overtimes at Marvel Gym before the Tigers came away with a 97-92 victory. The combined 189 total points set a Brown record.
2005 - 3/10/5
Sarah Hayes and Holly Robertson Earn First Team All-Ivy honors - For just the fifth time in Brown basketball history (men's and women's), the Bears had two players named to the All-Ivy First Team.
1991 - 1/4/91
200th Win - At the Florida International Tournament, Brown defeated Middle Tennessee STate 79-65 for the program's 200th win.
2006 - 3/9/06
6th Ivy Title - Brown captures a share of its sixth Ivy League Championship, beating Penn at home 72-62. Senior Sarah Hayes, who would go on to be named the Ivy Player of the Year, nets 23 points and grabs 10 rebounds.
1992 - 3/7/92
22 Wins/13 Ivy Wins - The Bears capped off one of the best seasons in Brown history by defeating Harvard 81-70. The win was Brown's 22nd of the season and 13th Ivy victory, both new Brown records.
2006 - 10/6/06
Hall of Fame - Coach Jean Marie Burr and former player Tammy Sanchez '95 were inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
1993 - 3/5/93
Fourth Ivy Title/Winning Streaks - Brown won its 13th consecutive Iby game of the season, and 21st consecutive Ivy game overall (dating back to 2/14/92), both new Brown team records. The win was also the 13th in a row overall for the Bears, setting a new mark for the longest overall team winning streak.

2010 - 12/5/10
- The Bears upset the Florida Gators, 56-50, during the Brown BEAR Basketball Classic. Sophomore Sheila Dixon scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds to later earn Second Team All-Ivy honors.

2017 - 3/11/17
Ivy Tournament
- Brown earned a spot in the inaugural Ivy League Tournament after winning the final two games of the regular season. The Bears then earned a berth in the Women's Basketball Invitational and gained their first win in a national postseason tournament.
