PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's basketball junior forward Erika Steeves has earned CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District accolades for the second straight season, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
A native of Montreal, Quebec, Steeves leads the Ivy League in defensive rebounds per game (7.1), while ranking third in rebounds per game (8.3), fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3), sixth in 3-pointers per game (1.7), ninth in assists per game (3.0), and 13th in points per game (12.1). She has posted six double-doubles on the season and 15 for her career.
Steeves has scored in double figures 15 times this season and 44 times for her career and has corralled double-digit rebounds seven times this year and 19 times for her career. She has scored over 30 points in each of two games this year with 38 points vs. Johnson & Wales (Jan. 5) and 31 points vs. Sacred Heart (Dec. 6).
Her brother Patrick Steeves – a 2016 Harvard graduate and graduate student on the George Washington men's basketball team – also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District laurels for the second time.
In order to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must participate as a starter or an important reserve, have reached sophomore academic standing, and maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.
Steeves and the Bears host Columbia on Friday, Feb. 23 at 6:00 p.m. (ESPN3/ILN) and Cornell on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 4:00 p.m. (myRITV/ILN).
