PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's basketball sophomore forward Erika Steeves has gained CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District accolades, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
A native of Montreal Quebec, Steeves has averaged close to a double-double this season with 11.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. She has tallied five double-doubles on the year and ranks sixth in the NCAA in defensive rebounds per game (7.8). Her 9.1 boards per game stand fourth in the Ancient Eight.
Steeves has scored in double figures 12 times this season and 22 times in her career. She has corralled 10 or more rebounds in each of seven games this year and 11 times in her career. This winter she has posted career highs with 22 points vs. Rhode Island on Dec. 3 and 18 rebounds at Binghamton on Nov. 27.
In order to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must participate as a starter or an important reserve, have reached sophomore academic standing, and maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.
Steeves and the Bears play at Harvard on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. (ILDN/ESPN3) and at Dartmouth on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. (ILDN).
