Women's Basketball Continues Road Trip at Army on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's basketball team, fresh off a thrilling 66-61 comeback win over Bryant, travel to West Point to take on the 3-1 Black Knights on Saturday at Christl Arena.

LAST TIME OUT

Lauren Clarke's (Colts Neck, N.J.) career-high 27 points, including 17 in the second half, rallied the Brown women's basketball team to a thrilling 66-61 win over in-state rival, Bryant, on Wednesday at the Chace Athletic Center.

 

Sophomore Ellise Sharpe (Tipp City, Ohio) also boasted a career-high 13 points, including a vital trey in the waning minutes to extend the lead to four.  Clarke salted the game away as she converted on her driving layup with just under 10 seconds to play to make it a two possession game.

 

BIKOFSKY TABBED AS IVY LEAGUE CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

After her career-high, 23-point performance against Saint Peter's on Saturday, junior guard Sophie Bikofsky earned Ivy League Co-Player of the Week honors in an announcement made by the league on Monday.

 

CLARKE RECORDS CAREER HIGH IN POINTS

Lauren Clarke's 27 points at Bryant on Wednesday were a career high and equals the most single-game points from a Brown player since Lindsey Nickel's 27 points versus Saint Peter's on November 10, 2012.

 

LETHAL FROM DOWNTOWN

Brown leads the Ivy League in three-point field goal percentage, shooting 48.4% from behind the arc (30-for-62).

 

BALL SECURITY

The Bears have taken care of the ball this season, ranking first in the Ivy League by averaging only 10.3 turnovers per game in 2013-14.

 

VS. ARMY

Saturday marks the 11th meeting between the two schools with the Bears holding a 6-4 edge in the all-time series.  Brown claimed a hard fought 48-45 win over the Black Knights in the Pizzitola Sports Center on January 2, 2013, led by Sheila Dixon's 14 points.

 
 

SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS

Sophomore Kelsey Minado, a 5-foot-8 guard, leads the Black Knights this season, averaging 18.9 points per game while shooting 90.5% from the charity stripe.  Head Coach David Magarity's squad enters Saturday's contest winners of their last three games, including a 66-52 win over Manhattan on Wednesday night.  6-foot-1 forward, Olivia Schretzman, has proven to be an important presence in the paint, averaging 10.3 rebounds per game for Army this season.
