PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Coming off its first victory of the season, a 64-52 triumph at Saint Peter's, the Brown women's basketball team sets its sights on Ocean State rival, Bryant, on Wednesday at the Chace Athletic Center.
LAST TIME OUT
Sophie Bikofsky's (Newton, Mass.) career-high 23 points proved to be the difference as the Brown women's basketball team evened its record at 1-1 with a 64-52 win over Saint Peter's on Saturday at the Yanitelli Center.
The junior guard went 8-for-11 from the field including six treys as she eclipsed her previous high in points of 21 set against Cornell on Feb. 16, 2013. Jordin Alexander (Fishers, Ind.) and senior co-captain Lauren Clarke (Colts Neck, N.J.) both recorded double figures in scoring for the second consecutive game. Alexander continues to be perfect from the line this season, going 6-for-6 on Saturday and 9-for-9 overall in 2013-14.
BIKOFSKY TABBED AS IVY LEAGUE CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After her career-high, 23-point performance against Saint Peter's on Saturday, junior guard Sophie Bikofsky earned Ivy League Co-Player of the Week honors in an announcement made by the league on Monday.
MUSGROVE LEADING THE WAY IN THEFTS
Freshman Rebecca Musgrove (Plainview, N.Y.) recorded five of the Bears' nine steals at Saint Peter's on Saturday. The five steals are the most recorded by a player in a game since Sheila Dixon also swiped five against Rhode Island on November 21, 2012.
LETHAL FROM DOWNTOWN
Brown leads the Ivy League in three-point field goal percentage, shooting 50% from behind the arc (20-for-40) while Bikofsky boasts a whopping 76.9% (10-for-13) success rate from downtown.
Wednesday marks the sixth meeting between the two schools with the Bears holding a 3-2 edge in the all-time series. Bryant claimed the most recent matchup between the teams, an 81-58 victory over Brown at the Pizzitola Sports Center on November 28, 2012.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs are led by Courtney Schissler (16.7 ppg), Jennaqua Bailey (13.7 ppg), and Naana Ankoma-Mensa (11.7 ppg, 10.0 rpg). After a season-opening win versus Vermont, Bryant has dropped its last two games to Providence and Maine, allowing an average of 89.5 points during its two-game skid.
