Women's Basketball Tabbed Seventh in Ivy League Preseason Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Brown women's basketball team finished seventh in the 2013-14 Ivy League Preseason Media Poll in an announcement made by the league on Thursday.  The Bears amassed 45 points in the poll, finishing ahead of eighth place Columbia (21 points).


Reigning Ivy League Champion Princeton received 13 of 17 first place votes while finishing with a league-high 130 points.  Harvard (120, three first place votes), Penn (98, one first place vote), Yale (91), Dartmouth (55), Cornell (52) rounded out the rest of the poll.


Lauren Clarke (Colts Neck, N.J.) returns for her senior season after averaging a team-high 13.1 PPG in 2012-13.  Sophie Beutel (Toronto, Ont.), Jessica Eason (Mansfield, Mass.), Jordin Juker (Boise, Idaho), and Carly Wellington (Lake Oswego, Ore.) highlight the returning senior class.


The Bears finished seventh overall in the Ivy League last season with records of 9-19 overall and 3-11 in league play.  Brown will open up the 2013-14 season with a home contest against Lafayette on Nov. 10.
