Providence, R.I. – The Brown University women's basketball team (2-2) will travel to the University of Pittsburgh (3-1) this Saturday, Nov. 24, to take on the Panthers at 1 p.m. at the Peterson Events Center. Video, live stats and radio will be provided on pittsburghpanthers.com.
Senior captain Sheila Dixon (Schenectady, NY) led Brown in scoring and rebounding, while earning her first double-double of the season scoring 22 points and grabbing 13 rebounds en route to a 55-51 victory over URI on Wednesday evening. Junior Lauren Clarke (Colts Neck, NJ) helped out by adding 10 points for the Bears and pulled down five rebounds.
Dixon leads Brown's offense and ranks third in the Ivy League with 14.8 points per game, while also pulling down a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game, and Clarke is second with 13.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
The Bears rank third in the Ivy League in both scoring defense (53.5) and field goal percent defense (.343).
Pittsburgh notched its third consecutive win of the year on Wednesday evening with a 65-39 victory over Wagner. Asia Logan led the offense with 22 points, and Brianna Kiesel added 11. Pitt's other two wins came against William & Mary (76-74), and Siena (75-50).
Logan leads Pitt in scoring and rebounding with 21 points and 7.5 rebounds, followed by Kiesel's 9.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. The Panthers are scoring 66.5 points per game, and holding their opponents to 56.8.
Saturday's game marks the first ever matchup between Brown and Pitt. After the weekend's game, the Bears will then host Bryant at 6 p.m. on Nov. 28, in their first home game since their season opener on Nov. 10 against St. Peter's.
