PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophie Bikofsky, a rising junior on the Brown women’s basketball team, has been named to the U.S.A. Basketball Team that will compete at the 19th World Maccabiah Games from July 17-30 in Israel.

Burr Invited To WBCA Center For Coaching Excellence Session
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Jean Marie Burr, head coach of the Brown women’s basketball team, has been selected as one of 30 coaches across the nation to participate in the Center For Coaching Excellence by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The invitational-only elite leadership program will be held from June 2-5 at Columbia University in New York City.

The Fifth Annual Brown Athletics Senior Celebration and Awards Luncheon was held at Andrews Dining Hall on Monday, May 20, 2013. Over 275 student-athletes, coaches, staff and distinguished guests were in attendance at the banquet to celebrate another year of success in competition, in the classroom and in the community. President Christina Paxson and Director of Athletics Jack Hayes each took the opportunity to address the room and acknowledge the accomplishments and contributions of the class of 2013.

King to be Recognized at NCAA Women's Final Four; Brown Alum Coaching in Semis
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Caroline King (Valencia, Pa.) of the Brown women’s basketball team will be heading to the 2013 NCAA Women’s Final Four in New Orleans this weekend to be recognized as a member of the WBCA Good Works Team, which was selected by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and Allstate Insurance Company.

Lauren Clarke and Sheila Dixon Earn All-Ivy Honors
Two members of the Brown women’s basketball team (9-19, 3-11 Ivy League) have been named to the 2013 All-Ivy Basketball Team in a vote by the Ivy League’s eight head coaches. Junior Lauren Clarke (Colts Neck, NJ) received second team All-Ivy honors, while senior tri-captain Sheila Dixon (Schenectady, NY) was named honorable mention All-Ivy.

The Brown women’s basketball team (9-19, 3-11 Ivy League) concluded its 2012-2013 season this evening with an 80-51 loss to the Princeton Tigers (21-6, 12-1 Ivy League) at Jadwin Gym. With the win, the Tigers clinched the Ivy League title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division ! Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Senior Caroline King Selected to Inaugural Alllstate WBCA Good Works Team
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and Allstate Insurance Company today announced the 20 men’s and women’s college basketball student-athletes named to the inaugural Allstate NABC Good Works Team® and Allstate WBCA Good Works Team®. Brown senior forward Caroline King (Valencia, PA) was one of five Division I women’s basketball players selected to the team.

Bears’ Second Half Surge Comes Up Just Short; Brown Falls to Harvard 77-71
A Sheila Dixon (Schenectady, NY) three-pointer brought the Brown women’s basketball team within two points of Harvard with 29 seconds left in the game. However, the Crimson would end the game on a 6-2 run, en route to a 77-71 victory. Brown falls to 8-16 overall and 1-8 in the Ivy League. Harvard improves to 5-3 in the Ivy League and 14-8 overall.

Brown Falls to a Tough Squad From Princeton, 68-37
After a series of schedule changes made necessary by Winter Storm Nemo, the Brown women’s basketball team (7-12, 1-4 Ivy League) welcomed the Princeton Tigers (13-5, 4-0 Ivy League) to the Pizzitola Sports Center tonight for an Ivy League contest. The Bears ultimately fell to the visiting squad, 68-37, but senior co-captain Sheila Dixon (Schenectady, NY) provided a bright spot for Brown, scoring a game-high 17 points, including 2-of-5 from long range.

Today's Women's Basketball Game Changed To Saturday Due To Snowstorm
The Brown women's basketball game vs. Princeton scheduled for today at noon has been changed due to the impending snowstorm. Brown will now host the Tigers tomorrow evening, Saturday, February 9, with tip-off scheduled for 7 pm at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Brown will also host Penn on Sunday evening, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. In addition, Brown's gymnastics meet vs. RIC, Bridgeport, Cortland, and Springfield on Sunday (2/10) is now scheduled for 1pm. Coach Burr Announces 2013 Summer Basketball Camp Dates
Head women’s basketball coach Jean Marie Burr is excited to announce the dates for the 2013 Women’s Basketball Summer Camps. The Brown Elite Basketball Camp is slated for the weekend of June 21-23, 2013, immediately followed by the Shooting Stars Basketball Day Camp the week of June 24-27, 2013.

Brown Edged by Dartmouth, 49-41
In spite of a second half rally, the Brown women’s basketball team (7-10, 1-2 Ivy League) fell, 49-41, to the Dartmouth Big Green (4-13, 2-1 Ivy League) in tonight’s Ivy League contest at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Bears, down 22-19 at the half, built a commanding lead in the second 20 minutes of action, but couldn’t overcome the visitors’ combination of staunch defense and dependability on the free throw line.

Women’s Basketball Seeks Season Sweep Against Yale
Providence, RI – The Brown women's basketball team will look to earn a season sweep against Yale when it hosts the Bulldogs at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25 at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Brown won the first meeting between the two teams on Jan. 19, when it handed Yale a 68-67 loss in New Haven to improve to 7-8 on the year (1-0 Ivy). PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's basketball team (7-9, 1-1 Ivy) fell 59-47 to the visiting Yale Bulldogs on Friday night at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Yale's Sarah Halejian led all scoring with 21 points and 10 rebounds to improve its record to 6-10 (1-1 Ivy), while Sophie Bikofsky led Brown with 11 points.

Bears Prevail in First Ivy League Game; Defeats Yale, 68-67
NEW HAVEN, Conn - With the game tied at 67-67, senior captain Sheila Dixon drained a free throw with one second left in the game to give the Brown women's basketball team an exciting win in its first Ivy League game of the 2012-13 campaign. The win improved the Bears to 7-8 overall and 1-0 in the Ivy League, while Yale dropped to 5-10 and 0-1 in the league.

Brown Basketball Hosts Special Olympics Clinic
Both the Brown men’s and women’s basketball teams and coaching staffs hosted a clinic for Rhode Island Special Olympics on Wednesday, January 9 at the Olney Margolies Athletic Center on the Brown campus. Brown players demonstrated the fundamentals of basketball and participated in drills with Special Olympians from throughout the State of Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts. Nearly 150 Special Olympians and 50 guests participated.

Providence, R.I. - Sophomore Sophie Bikofsky connected on a 17-foot jump shot from the corner with 3.5 seconds remaining in regulation to lift Brown to a 53-51 victory over the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Tuesday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

The Brown University women’s basketball team (5-8) dropped a 83-66 decision to the Holy Cross Crusaders (8-7) during the second annual “Get Fit with the Crusaders Day” on Tuesday afternoon at the Hart Center. Junior point guard Lauren Clarke led Brown in scoring for the second straight game with a team-high 16 points.

Providence, R.I. – The Brown women’s basketball team (5-6) will travel to Easton, Pa., for a 2 p.m. game at Lafayette on Saturday, Jan. 5. The Bears have won their last two consecutive, and are coming off an exciting come-from-behind, 48-45, victory over the visiting Army Black Knights on Wednesday evening. EASTON, Pa. – Led by Jamie O'Hare's career-high 18 points, the Lafayette Leopards rolled to a 56-32 victory over the Brown women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon at the Kirby Sports Center. With the loss, the Bears fall to 5-7 on the season, while Lafayette improves to 6-8.

The win improved the Bears' record to 5-6 overall, while the Black Knights dropped to 10-4.

College Park, Md. – Led by Sheila Dixon's 20 points and six rebounds, the Brown women's basketball team earned a 57-46 victory over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in the consolation game of the Terrapin Classic. For her efforts, Dixon earned All-Tournament team honors. The Bears improved to 4-6 on the year, while UMES dropped to 4-8.

College Park, Md. – Maryland's Tianna Hawkins poured in 20 points on 9-of-9 shooting from the field to lead the No. 9 Terrapins to a 76-36 victory over the visiting Brown women's basketball team in the first round of the Terrapin Classic. The Bears will now play either Hartford or UMES at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the consolation game.

Bears Host Rider, Quinnipiac & New Hampshire in Brown BEAR Classic
Providence, RI- The Brown women's basketball team will host its 21st annual Brown Bear Basketball Classic on December 1st and 2nd at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The four-team tournament features the Rider Broncs (2-3), the UNH Wildcats (3-2), and the Quinnipiac Bobcats (4-0). The Bears (2-4) and Rider kick off the tournament at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, followed by Quinnipiac and UNH at 4 p.m. On Sunday, Brown will take on either Quinnipiac or New Hampshire at 4 p.m. Live stats will be provided for all games, and video will be available (for a fee) for the Brown games.

Nickel added seven three pointers for the Bears today, to tie the record set by Jinny Gill '90 in 1988.
