Princeton, NJ- Princeton's Lauren Edwards netted 20 points to lead the Tigers to a 75-38 victory over Brown on Saturday evening at Jadwin Gym. The Bears were led by junior captain Hannah Passafuime's nine points, while Brown dropped to 7-17 overall and 3-7 in the Ivy League. With the win, the first-place Tigers improved to 18-4 and 7-1 in the league.
In a fairly even first half, the Tigers and Bears remained close throughout the stanza as a jumper by Passafuime brought Brown within two, 14-12, with 9:21 on the clock. Princeton pushed back and gained a six-point lead, but layups by Sophie Beutel and Aileen Daniels brought the Bears back within two. But Princeton closed out the half with a 7-0 run to head into the locker room with a 31-23 lead.
The Tigers started the second stanza on a 9-0 run to take a 40-23 lead in the first five minutes, and continued to build on its lead throughout the remainder of the half with 51 percent shooting from the floor. The Bears were able to cut their deficit to 21 with 5:20 left in the game, but Princeton outscore Brown 17-2 in the final few minutes to earn the 75-38 win.
Adding to Brown's offense tonight was Aileen Daniels with eight points andNickel with six. Sophie Beutel pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while Daniels grabbed five. The Bears finished the game shooting 33 percent form the floor, and hit just 3-of-16 from beyond the arc.
Leading Princeton was Lauren Edwards with 20 points and three assists, while Devona Allgood and Nicole Hung netted 12 apiece. Megan Bowen registered a double-double tonight scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 boards, while Allgood pulled down eight rebounds and handed out three assists. The Tigers shot 45 percent from the floor and went 10-of-21 from the three.
