Providence, RI - Two members of the Brown Cross Country squad have recently earned All-Ivy honors after competing at the 2008 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships at Van Cortlandt Park last Friday afternoon. Junior Duriel Hardy (West Chester, PA) was awarded First Team All-Ivy accolades, while sophomore Lara Heigis (Walpack, NJ) was named to the Second Team.
Hardy earned the men's top finish that day, helping Bruno to a fifth-place finish with a combined 142 points. His time of 24:52.3 on the five-mile course at Van Cortlandt Park earned him seventh place, and a spot on the Ivy League's First Team.
Heigis gave an outstanding performance for the youthful women's squad on Friday, placing 13th during the 5k race. Her time of 18:06.2 was Brown's top finish, and earned her Second Team All-Ivy honors. As a team, the Bears finished in third place with a total of 92 points. Brown finished behind Princeton (17 pts) and Columbia (80).
Both teams will now prepare for the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet, which will be held on Nov. 15, at Van Cortlandt Park.
