NEW YORK – Freshman Eli Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) paced the Brown men's cross country team with a 39th-place finish as the Bears took eighth at the 2015 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship Friday morning at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City.
Brown battled injury and illness for an eighth-place team finish with 230 total points, while Columbia captured the title with 65 total points.
"We were dealt some challenges this season but we clearly didn't do a good job of rising above these difficulties," said Tim Springfield, Director of Track & Field/Cross Country. "We did fight hard today but I didn't have them prepared well enough and we hurt ourselves with poor execution."
Moskowitz completed the 8-kilometer course in a time of 25:42.3, before junior Stephen Bourguet (Manhasset, N.Y.) placed senior Will Sheeran (Bellevue, Wash.) placed 43rd and 44th, respectively, in times of 25:48.9 and 25:51.5.
Brown returns to action in two weeks for the NCAA Northeast Regional, which will take place on Friday, Nov. 13 at Franklin Park in Boston.
