Men’s Cross Country Victorious at Rothenberg Invitational

WARWICK, R.I.  – Junior Mark McGurrin (Manlius, N.Y.) cruised to a first-place finish and two other Bears placed inside the top-five as the Brown University men's cross county team captured first place at the home Rothenberg Invitational Friday afternoon at Goddard State Park. Brown hosted four teams including Boston College, Dartmouth, Rhode Island and UMass-Lowell.

McGurrin completed the 8-kilometer course in a time of 25:24.9 to claim the top finish. Senior Colin Savage (Liverpool, N.Y.) also posted a top-five finish as he placed third overall in a time of 25:47.8, while sophomore Ned Willig (Phoenixville, Pa.) took fifth overall as he crossed the finish line in a time of 25:50.2.

Juniors Evan Roelke (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Jordan Mann (St. Louis, Mo.) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in times of 25:4.1 and 25:58.5 to round out the Brown scorers.

Additionally, freshmen Stephen Bourguet (Manhasset, N.Y.) and Martin Martinez (Waukegan, Ill.) placed 10th and 11th, respectively, in times of 26:00.0 and 26:02.2.

The Bears return to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on the campus of Princeton University.
