The College Sports Information Directors have selected the 2003 Verizon Academic All-America District I Team. Junior wrestler Nick Ciarcia (Berlin, CT) was chosen as a second team selection. Ciarcia is concentrating in Economics and Philosophy and has a 3.85 GPA.

To qualify for the Verizon Academic All-District program, a student athlete must be at least a sophomore in class, a starter or significant reserve on his team and have compiled a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA. The District I team includes student-athletes from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

This is just one of several honors Ciarcia has received this year. He was an All-Ivy Honorable Mention as well as being named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic Second team. Ciarcia was an NCAA Qualifier after placing fourth at Easterns and finishing the year with a 24-11 overall record.
