Brown Wrestling Announces Class of 2013

Providence, R.I. - The Brown University wrestling program is pleased to announce its class of 2013, consisting of 10 distinguished young men: Seth Nolan (Coshocton HS, OH), Cort Choate (Blue Mountain HS, PA), Gabe Brotzman (Cary HS, NC), Tyler Cowman (Wyoming Valley West HS), Jack Roberts (Union Grove HS, GA), Nick Mazza (Riordan HS, CA), Mark Aranda (Hobbs HS, NM), Beau Martino (Battlefield HS, VA), Phil Marano (Northampton HS, PA) and Caleb Blaney (Urbana HS, IL).
Three of Brown's ten recruits stem from the state of Pennsylvania, a mainstay at the top of the national high school rankings. Leading the group is former state champion, Cort Choate, a two-time state placer winner (1st 2008, 5th 2009), compiling 152 wins in his four year career at Blue Mountain High School. Choate has also placed numerous times at the Powerade and Ironman national tournaments. Tyler Cowman of Wyoming Valley West High School comes to Brown with a record of 112-28. Cowman is a three-time state qualifier and a one-time state place winner (4th 2009). Additionally, Cowman is a region and district champion. Closing the list of Brown's Pennsylvania recruits is state semifinalist, Phil Marano. Hailing from state powerhouse, Northampton High School, he is a two-time state qualifier and a one-time state place winner (5th 2009).
State champions Beau Martino, Gabe Brotzman, and Jack Roberts will make the trip north to attend Brown next fall. Beau Martino, a Virginia native, is a two-time state champion with a career record of 164-21. He is also a three-time region champion and a four-time district champion. Gabe Brotzman of Cary, North Carolina is a four-time state qualifier and a three-time state place winner (6th 2006, 2nd 2008, 1st 2009). Brotzman finishes his high school career with a record of 217-29. Georgia wrestler, Jack Roberts, is also a four-time state qualifier and a three-time state place winner (2nd 2007, 4th 2008, 1st 2009). Roberts amassed a career record of 202-27 and has placed in the nationally recognized Super 32 Tournament.
From the west, two-time California state qualifier Nick Mazza will also be joining the Brown team next fall. Mazza is a three-time sectional place winner and has a final high school record of 141-46. Ohio native, Seth Nolan, comes to Brown with nearly 160 total career victories. Nolan is a one-time Ohio state place winner (8th 2008) and has an impressive 97 total career falls. Caleb Blaney from Urbana High School in Illinios will join former high school teammate, Zach Kulczycki, to wrestle for the Brown Bears next fall. Accumulating 104 wins in his four year career, Blaney is a conference champion, two-time region champion, and two-time state qualifer. Concluding the class of 2013 is Mark Aranda of Hobbs High School in New Mexico. Aranda is a four-time state qualifier, three-time district champion, and two-time state place winner (6th 2008, 3rd 2009).
