Bears Place Four On All-Ivy Teams

Princeton, NJ - A total of four Brown grapplers were named to the All-Ivy wrestling teams with juniors Dan Appello and Doran Heist earning Second Team honors and juniors Mike Savino and Mike Pedro receiving Honorable Mentions.
Appello went 3-1 in Ivy action, recording victories over Princeton, 15th ranked Penn and Harvard at 133 pounds. He beat his Ivy opponents by an average of six points, including a a nine-point major decision over Princeton's Greg Redman and an eight-point victory over Harvard's Brent Kakesako. During the regular season, Appello went 14-10, including a 7-5 mark in dual meet competition.
Heist, who finished sixth at the EIWA Championship, went 2-1 in Ivy competition and 16-8 during the regular season at 184 pounds. His 16 wins were second on the team, despite missing three weeks of action with an injury. His only loss in league competition was to EIWA Champion Tyler Baier of Cornell. Heist's 9-3 dual meet mark was tied for second on the team.
Savino, who re-joined the Bears in January, went 2-1 in Ivy action and 6-5 overall. His lone loss came at the hands of Columbia's Devin Mesanko in overtime. Pedro finished the season with the second-best winning percentage for Brown with a 15-5 overall mark. His 9-3 mark in dual competition was tied for second with Heist. In Ivy action, the co-captain went 2-1, including a win by fall over Harvard.
