Four Wrestlers Named All-Ivy

Feb. 26, 2009

Providence, R.I. - Four Brown wrestlers were named to the Honorable Mention All-Ivy squad on Thursday, the result of a strong finish to the season. Juniors Greg Einfrank (Jefferson Valley, N.Y.) and Stephen DeLorenzo (Wantagh, N.Y.) and seniors Matt Gevelinger (Mineral Point, WI) and Zach Zdrada (Atkinson, N.H.) were all voted Honorable Mention by the League's six coaches.

Einfrank provided a consistent threat at the top of the order for the Bears, as he went 9-7 wrestling in the 125-pound weight class, generally the first in a match. Delorenzo, meanwhile, compiled the best winning percentage of any regular on the team, as he wracked up a 16-6 mark at 149.

Gevelinger, considered one of the squad's top athletes throughout his career, proved it once again, going 18-11 at 184, one of the most competitive divisions in the league. Zdrada was similarly dangerous, as he went 13-10 in his bouts, including four wins over ranked opponents.

After a slow start against some extremely tough competition, the foursome helped spark the Bears to a strong finish, as Brown went 5-1 down the stretch to push their overall record to 7-10 on the season. The Bears will be back in action on March 7, when they travel to Philadelphia for the EIWA Championships.
